Anew memorial to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the end of the Gulf War will be unvieled at the National Memorial Arboretum on Sunday 28th February.
Very poignant and worth remembering that the UK lost 47 lives, nine to friendly fire during the conflict.
The US forces sustained 146 fatalities 35 of which were friendly fire.
And that's not forget the Iraqi forces who lost and this is an estimate, between 20,000 to 26,000.
75,000 were wounded, bewildering!?.
This has struck a chord with me not only because I'm a Iraq veteran but I felt a little ashamed at my lack of knowledge of the memorial being built. It's only because of a customer this week who contacted me in a panic, for the supply of miniature medals and the court mounting of the medals, so he could wear them on Sunday for the unvieling of the Memorial itself. Thankfully the work was carried and the customer will get his medals.
